Night carer, how much do you pay?

Whether it is necessary to take care of self-sufficient people such as children and the elderly or non-self-sufficient people such as the disabled or handicapped, the work of the night carer is very important in many Italian families.
Having a person to take care of these people at night is essential.
We must distinguish between collaborators who take care of self-sufficient people and staff who take care of non-self-sufficient people.
In the first case it involves occasional non-continuous work, in the second case it is necessary to use nursing staff with specific skills.
In these cases reference is made to articles 10 and 11 of the national collective agreement for domestic workers and carers.
Let's see what they say and how much they should be paid.
Night carer: what the law says The activity carried out by night carers is divided into night waiting activities and night presence activities.
The night waiting activity includes a service from 8pm to 8am the following day.
Contractually the worker can be classified in three ways: level B super: for assistance to self-sufficient people; level C super: for assistance to non-self-sufficient people; level D super: for assistance to non-self-sufficient people when the worker is trained, i.e.
has the necessary professional requirements, achieved with a specific diploma or with participation in training courses.
The beginning of the collaboration must take place with a written document signed by both parties indicating the working hours and the nature of the service.
The salary? For pay, reference is made to what is included in the national collective agreement for domestic workers and carers.
Each level corresponds to a minimum salary.
For level B we start from 1,137.23 euros, level C from 1,288.87 while level D from 1,592.17 euros.
These figures can obviously be increased freely.
In addition to remuneration, the law also provides for the provision of certain benefits in kind.
For non-cohabiting staff, the employer is obliged to offer dinner, breakfast and suitable sleeping accommodation.
For live-in staff, in addition to normal room and board, 11 hours of consecutive rest are also added every 24 hours.
Regarding the payment of INPS contributions there is a discount.
The calculation of the amount due is independent of the actual hours worked but is carried out on the basis of 8 hours of work per day.
This way the employer pays less.
The situation is different for night presence work only.
In this case the carer only has to stay at home from 9pm to 8am the following day.
A job more like a lady-in-waiting which still provides suitable accommodation for the night that allows him to rest.
According to a collective agreement, the minimum wage is lower and starts at 761.45 euros.
Any additional service must be paid separately by law.
Depending on the job, they range from 5.27 to 9.36 euros per hour.
Also in this case there is a contribution discount and the calculation is carried out only on 5 hours of work.
