How much does Netflix cost? Subscription prices and how to save

Netflix, how much does it cost me? The US streaming entertainment service has continuously updated its pricing plans and subscription offerings in recent years, with greater control over account sharing leading to permanent changes for various profiles.
Even Netflix Italia, in this sense, was not spared by this wave of change in content and costs.
It is no coincidence that since 2015, the year in which the platform was launched in our country, Netflix has revolutionized the way of watching films and TV series and now, after a decidedly successful period of "settling in", the time has come to rearrange prices (and monetize).
Here, then, are the best solutions for subscribing to Netflix based on market opportunities, subscription costs and the ways in which to enjoy the contents of the most famous streaming service in the world.
Netflix: the costs of subscriptions and which one to choose How the Netflix subscription works Netflix subscription: the costs of the plans How much does Netflix cost per month? And per year? Here's how to pay less Standard with advertising, the cheapest: for those who pay attention to the matter Standard, for viewing without commercials (even shared) Premium, the most recommended for those who can split the subscription How to pay Netflix Cancel Netflix: how to stop the subscription How the Netflix subscription works Although it remains one of the best streaming services thanks to the vastness of its catalog and the quality of some of its original productions, the increase in subscription prices has made even the most daring Netflix fans falter.
Subscribers who, according to Agcom estimates, are over 220 million worldwide, of which 9 million in Italy alone.
And to think that the decision for the latest price increases (2022 and 2023) came precisely to address the decline in subscribers, also due to the high competition in the sector (Amazon Prime Video and Disney+ first and foremost).
Without forgetting that it was the Californian platform that developed the streaming content subscription service in an easy and intuitive way.
To use Netflix and watch TV series, films and documentaries, all you need is an internet connection, go to the official website or the app, enter your email address and click on the red "Start" button.
From here the procedure for signing up to Netflix and logging in with your Account and Password will open.
These credentials can also be used by the Netflix app available for iOS and Android and for enabled Smart TVs.
In short, the Netflix subscription works in a totally digital way, like any other plan for accessing online content.
A route undoubtedly common today but incredibly revolutionary just 8-10 years ago.
After entering your data, choosing your username and password and subscription plan, Netflix also asks for data relating to your payment method, which can be associated with a card from which the service will deduct the money monthly.
Netflix subscription: the costs of the plans Here we come to the point: how much does a Netflix subscription cost? What plans are available and what is the difference between them? The Netflix rates listed are updated according to the latest available data, in line with the new guidelines regarding costs, accounts and features.
The table lists the subscription options currently available for new customers or for registered customers who want to change their plan.
Plan Cost Features Limitations Extra user Standard with advertising €5.49/month Full HD viewing, streaming and download viewing on 2 devices at a time Presence of advertising, no 4K, no extra users, some content may be limited not available Standard 12, €99/month Full HD viewing, unlimited content without advertising, streaming and download viewing on 2 devices at a time, possibility of adding 1 extra user No 4K, no more than 1 user can be added 1 user for 4.99/month Premium €17.99/month 4K viewing, Netflix spatial audio, unlimited content without advertising, streaming viewing on 4 devices at a time and download on 6 devices at a time, possibility of adding 2 extra users None 2 users at €4.99 each/month Let's immediately make it clear that subscription sharing, as can be seen from the updated plans, is not contemplated by Netflix.
Indeed, it is thoroughly controlled depending on the profile.
How does Netflix block sharing? Compared to a few years ago, the platform is able to decipher and constantly monitor the IP address and the resulting IDs of the devices that access the service: if the devices used are not connected to the main IP, Netflix sends a blocking message to the active accounts not "verified" with the request to enter a code (which is sent by message to the season ticket holder) to unlock viewing.
Obviously this control becomes more difficult if you mainly use mobile devices, while it is simpler if you access it from a smart TV connected to the home internet network.
It is also necessary to distinguish between sharing and viewing at the same time; the latter, in fact, is always permitted if it occurs in the same family unit, within the limits indicated by the subscription plans (see table above).
It therefore seems clear that the only way to share a subscription is to subscribe to a Standard (without advertising) or Premium plan and optionally add an extra user, for a maximum of two extras per subscription exclusively if you subscribe to the Premium plan.
It is also useful to remember that the Basic Plan without advertising, the last low cost bastion (€7.99/month) without commercials, was retired in October 2023 and can no longer be subscribed to for new users.
It remains active for those who have subscribed to Netflix by choosing this plan before the offer expires.
With it you can watch Netflix and download on only one device at a time.

How much does Netflix cost per month? And per year? Here's how to pay less The Netflix subscription always lasts monthly and does not include any additional costs compared to those listed.
Furthermore, it is not subject to a contract and can be canceled or renewed at any time.
At present, therefore, there is no annual payment/subscription solution but only a month-to-month renewal.
A different matter, however, if you subscribe to Netflix by taking advantage of promotions or packages from third-party partners, as in the case of Sky or TIMVision offers, which are the most convenient for those looking for other content in addition to that of Netflix (such as sports, cinema , entertainment etc etc).
There is, then, another aspect to remember.
For years now, Netflix has removed the free trial for new subscribers: this means that those who activate an account for the first time must choose one of the subscription plans based on their needs and how much they want to spend immediately.
There are, however, ways to save on the cost of Netflix: sharing the subscription with other people and spending less, for example, or you can opt for the plan with advertising, for those who don't have great expectations and want to think about the plan first.
wallet and then to the viewing experience.
Standard with advertising, the cheapest: for those who pay attention to the matter With the new pricing policy, it is clear how much Netflix is trying to combat the reckless sharing of subscriptions.
In fact, the increase in rates discourages shared accounts, making them – when possible – less convenient: the best solution to save is to sign up for a Standard plan with advertising for 5.49 euros per month and use it exclusively among the people in your household family (i.e.
living together).
The annual cost of the cheapest subscription, therefore, amounts to 65.88 euros.
The presence of commercials is now also approved on these platforms (see Prime Video), while Full HD video may not be a limit.
In fact, if you have a latest generation smart TV, even 1080p quality is certainly sufficient for a more than satisfactory video (and audio) experience.
Any "restrictions" on the catalog are also negligible for viewing purposes.
Standard, for viewing without commercials (even shared) If advertising really isn't your thing, the most attractive option remains the Standard plan at 12.99 euros per month.
The weak point of this subscription, however, is the fact that you pay 7.50 euros more per month for a few minutes of commercials (about 4 minutes per hour of viewing) compared to the cheapest offer.
A cost that reaches 90 euros more on an annual basis: 155.88 euros for the Standard plan versus 65.88 for the Standard plan with advertising.
Not an indifferent price.
This is why the Standard plan, considering that 4K vision is not included, is only advisable if you add an extra user – at 4.99 euros per month – to share the subscription with.
In this case, in fact, the annual cost rises to 215.76 euros (17.98 euros per month) but at least you can count on the division of costs (107.88 euros per person per year, approximately 9 euros per month).
The only real plus, let's remember, is the absence of advertising.
For the rest, the conditions of the offer are almost identical to those of the Standard plan without advertising.
Premium, the most recommended for those who can split the subscription.
The most avid Netflix fans will have no problem choosing the Premium plan at 17.99 euros per month, for a total of 215.88 euros per year.
With this option you can enjoy all the advantages of the platform, from maximum audio quality up to 4K video, through the large number of supported devices.
If you subscribe to the Premium plan alone, this is obviously the least convenient.
Different matter, however, if you want to share the account with a couple of friends or family, adding 2 extra users – always at 4.99 euros per month each.
In this case, in fact, the monthly cost of 27.97 euros and, consequently, the annual cost of 335.64 euros can be divided by three, practically overlapping the prices of the Premium plan with the Standard one.
Each person, in fact, would pay just over 9 euros per month, with the advantage of "unlimited Netflix".
However, we must always remember that adding an extra user does not imply the "same rights" for all accounts.
In fact, extra users cannot enjoy simultaneous viewing and downloads (between the devices of their account, obviously), just as they cannot reside in a different country than that of the main account.

If when trying to log in to Netflix with your account the error message "Your account is suspended due to a problem with your last payment" appears, it means that Netflix was unable to collect the amount due for some reason.
For example, there may not be enough money on your card to cover the cost of your subscription, or it may have expired.
You may also want to consider the possibility that the bank has not approved the monthly charge, or that the payment information entered on the site does not match that registered with the bank.
To resolve the problem, you need to update your payment method by going to "Manage payment information" in your account.
Alternatively, you can add a backup payment method.
Canceling Netflix: how to stop your subscription Just as it is simple to register for Netflix, it is also simple to cancel the service.
Canceling Netflix can be done at any time and without having to contact a call center.
In fact, when we sign up for a Netflix subscription, there are no long-term contracts, as mentioned, nor penalties for cancellation.

This means that, if you don't want to renew Netflix every month, you should proceed with the cancellation right away otherwise you might forget about it later.
All you have to do to cancel Netflix is turn off auto-renewal before it expires.
Proceed like this: log in to Netflix and scroll the screen to the "Account" item.
Click on it and go to the “Subscription and billing” section > “Cancel subscription”.
Click “Confirm” and “Complete Cancellation”, and return to your account.
If one day you want to reactivate Netflix because your favorite series starts, you can do so easily by re-entering your account details and paying for the chosen subscription plan at the end of the month.
