Political Polls Show Decline for PD as Meloni Struggles, While M5S and Forza Italia Gain Ground

Political Survey Insights: A Critical Moment for the Democratic Party

The latest political survey conducted by Swg and revealed on October 14 by Tg La7, hosted by Enrico Mentana, underscores what seems to be a significant crisis for the Democratic Party (Pd).
The party has been experiencing a noticeable decline in voter intentions.

According to the survey, the Pd has lost 0.4% in just one week, marking a dramatic drop that follows similar trends from previous weeks.
For Elly Schlein, who has recently made headlines with her performance during an Articolo 31 concert, this represents yet another alarming signal amidst a series of concerning developments.

Giorgia Meloni’s Challenges Amidst Center-Right Growth

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also finds herself in a difficult position, yet she can rely on a strong showing from Fratelli d’Italia, especially following their impressive performance in the European elections.
Paradoxically, despite the challenging discussions surrounding the economic budget, the center-right coalition appears to be gaining momentum according to the survey findings.

Forza Italia, in particular, seems to be improving, consistently outperforming the Lega, where Roberto Vannacci is increasingly taking the spotlight while Matteo Salvini appears to be pushed into a more secondary role.

Movement and Alliances among Other Parties

The Swg survey also brings positive news for the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S).
Following recent tensions, the Democratic Party’s negotiators are reportedly seeking to reconcile with the 5-star movement to maintain a united front for the upcoming regional elections in Emilia-Romagna.
The 5S have become increasingly vital for the Democrats, similar to Alleanza Verdi-Sinistra, despite a slight downturn observed among the greens.

On the moderate front, Azione’s recent retreat may hinder Carlo Calenda’s chances to surpass the 3% threshold in the upcoming regional elections.
Matteo Renzi’s Italia Viva shows a slight positive trend, while +Europa exhibits minor declines, straying farther from their desired electoral goals.

Even though the next general elections seem distant, the political landscape remains unpredictable.
Therefore, forming electoral alliances will be crucial for these parties to secure representation in Parliament.
