Political Polls: Calenda and Renzi’s Struggles, M5s Declines, While Meloni, Pd, and Salvini Rise

Latest Political Survey by Swg

The most recent political survey conducted by Swg was revealed on October 21 by Enrico Mentana’s Tg La7.
This survey followed the approval of the 2025 budget law by the Council of Ministers, which is still under review, and took place just before the regional elections in Liguria.
Additionally, it comes amid the ongoing chaos regarding the migrant situation in Albania.

Overall, the government seems to have navigated these challenges quite well.
Giorgia Meloni, the leader of Brothers of Italy, may be pleased to see her party’s approval rating returning close to the crucial psychological threshold of 30%.

Other Parties’ Performance

There is also good news for the League, as Matteo Salvini has recently adopted a more aggressive tone, especially on social media, going back to his Captain persona.
Forza Italia has remained stable, consistently staying ahead of the League in this internal competition for the title of the second largest party in the coalition.

Considering Noi Moderati, often referred to as the “fourth leg” of the coalition, their slight decline suggests an overall improvement for the center-right, increasing by 0.4% compared to the previous week.

Opposition Landscape

In terms of the opposition, the survey indicates a potential resurgence for the Democratic Party (PD).
However, Elly Schlein still trails significantly behind Giorgia Meloni.
Conversely, the Five Star Movement (M5S) has been on a roller coaster ride in recent weeks, showing a marked decline in voter intentions.

The Greens-Left Alliance appears stable, holding firm to the results from the recent European elections.
Among opposition parties, both Matteo Renzi and Carlo Calenda seem to be in crisis, struggling to gain traction after their split.
Both Action and Italia Viva are reported to be falling further behind the 3% threshold, highlighting a particularly tough period for them.

Renzi has been seeking a return to the center-left fold, which has caused some tension within the M5S.
Meanwhile, Calenda is pushing for a pact with +Europa, yet the moderate front remains more fragmented than ever.
