European elections 2024, the complete guide.
In recent months the member states of the European Union have decided the date of the community consultation: voting will take place from 6 to 9 June 2024.
In January 2024 the Council of Ministers established that in Italy the European elections will take place on Saturday 8 and on Sunday 9 June, also giving the green light to the merger with the first round of the administrative elections and with the regional ones in Piedmont and Basilicata.
As the European elections approach, the chessboard of candidates among the political leaders also appears clearer: Matteo Renzi will certainly be in the field, Giuseppe Conte and Matteo Salvini will remain out while both Giorgia Meloni and Elly Schlein have not yet made a decision on the matter .
According to electoral polls, the "Ursula majority", which currently governs in Brussels, would be in sharp decline, all to the advantage of the right, independents and Eurosceptics.
The June vote could consequently reshape the community balance.
Here is everything you need to know about the 2024 European elections, with the official vote date, the electoral law in force in Italy, how the composition of the next European Parliament will be determined and what the polls say.

There is also talk of a possible return of Roberto Formigoni.
However, Giuseppe Conte and Matteo Salvini will not run, with the League instead expected to focus heavily on General Roberto Vannacci.
In the Democratic Party there could be Nicola Zingaretti, with Elly Schlein still undecided on what to do: much will depend on what Giorgia Meloni's choice will be.
As regards the 5 Star Movement, Giuseppe Conte should not grant special exemptions to those who have already held two mandates in Italy or Europe: among the Five Star Movement, however, one of the hottest names is that of Pasquale Tridico.
There is also great movement on the left, where the former president of the Puglia Region Nichi Vendola could run as a candidate with Avs, with the journalist Michele Santoro who has announced his own pacifist list Peace, earth dignity to be presented at the European elections: there could be on the list Ignazio Marino, Vauro and Mimmo Lucano.
