Political Polls: Salvini Struggles as Meloni and M5S Rise, While PD and Forza Italia Decline
Latest SWG Political Poll Overview
The most recent political survey by SWG, released on October 28 through Tg La7 hosted by Enrico Mentana, was conducted prior to the announcement of the Liguria regional election results.
These results showcased a victory for Marco Bucci, the center-right candidate, who surpassed Andrea Orlando by approximately 8,000 votes.
According to the poll, Giorgia Meloni continues to gain momentum.
If the current trend holds, her party, Fratelli d’Italia, could soon exceed the 30% threshold once again.
On the contrary, Matteo Salvini’s Lega seems unable to regain the support it has lost to Fratelli d’Italia, reflecting a starkly different sentiment.
Forza Italia also shows a decline; however, thanks to Salvini’s drop, they maintain their position as the second party within the governing coalition.
Despite controversies surrounding the budget law, which typically might shake confidence, the center-right coalition, including the rise of Noi Moderati, appears stable according to the survey.
Political Landscape for Other Parties
Interestingly, the poll paints a bleak picture for the Democratic Party, which, despite a strong regional performance in Liguria, could not secure a win for Orlando.
Meanwhile, the Movimento 5 Stelle has experienced troubled results in Liguria but shows a rise in national support, mainly due to the ongoing conflict between Beppe Grillo and Giuseppe Conte.
Alleanza Verdi-Sinistra remains steady at the solid percentages achieved during the European elections, while moderate parties face challenges.
Although Italia Viva has marked a slight increase, Matteo Renzi still struggles to hope for surpassing the crucial 3% barrier.
Similarly, Carlo Calenda’s Azione remains in a downturn, and +Europa has dipped below the 2% mark.
For all these parties, making the right alliances will be crucial when the polls open next; without collaboration, they risk falling short of the electoral threshold.
