How to Avoid Annoying Calls from Call Centers on Your Mobile Phone

How to Stop Annoying Spam Calls

Spam phone calls have always been a source of discomfort, especially when they are repeated and insistent.
In recent times, however, there seems to have been a real explosion of spam calls at all hours, always from different and impossible to call back numbers.
For many users, the situation is unbearable, especially for those who need to use their mobile phones for work or other important communications.
Here are some tricks to avoid these calls.

Registering to Stop Call Center Calls

In recent years, telemarketing has practically besieged mobile numbers, taking advantage of the fact that smartphones accompany us throughout the day.
Often, there is a need to answer because we are expecting other calls, and especially due to the limitations on landlines.
Consumer protection laws have been slow to keep up with this evolution, but some years ago, the National Do Not Call Registry was extended to mobile numbers.

Registration on the Do Not Call Registry allows you to object to the processing of your data for marketing and market research purposes, helping to limit calls from call centers.
In addition to objecting, there is also the revocation of any consents previously given, often unknowingly.
Refer to Money.it’s dedicated guide to the Do Not Call Registry for step-by-step instructions on how to register.

Challenges Despite Registration

As mentioned, registering on the Do Not Call Registry helps limit receiving calls from call centers and commercial operators, implying the impossibility of completely eliminating them.
A quick search on the web reveals the complaints of thousands of users who say, “I signed up for the Do Not Call Registry, but they still call me.” There are several reasons why commercial calls continue despite objections, with the main ones being:

  • Revocation of registration through a new consent;
  • Operators not complying with the law;
  • Foreign call centers.

First and foremost, it is essential to consider that when you give consent for the processing of your data for commercial purposes, the registration on the Do Not Call Registry is automatically revoked.
This means that the processing is authorized for specific individuals, but at the same time, the protection of the Registry is lost.
Unfortunately, this often happens without the user being fully aware, for example, when changing phone providers, subscribing to a loyalty program, or a subscription, and so on.
The alternative is to not provide your mobile number, which is not always possible without giving up the service in question.
