Bezos surpasses Musk and becomes the richest in the world
The ranking of the richest in the world is moving and crowning a new king: Jeff Bezos is the wealthiest billionaire globally.
For the first time in more than nine months, Elon Musk is not the richest person in the world.
Musk lost his position atop the Bloomberg Billionaires Index to Bezos after Tesla shares tumbled 7.2% on Monday.
His net worth is now $197.7 billion, while Bezos' is $200.3 billion.
It is the first time since 2021 that the founder of Amazon.com has risen to the top of Bloomberg's ranking of the richest people.
Bezos is the richest in the world thanks to the fortunes of Amazon Behind the ranking of global billionaires lie deeper meanings on the value of large companies listed on the stock exchange and on the performance of the stock market in general.
According to the index, Bezos has earned $23 billion so far in 2024, while Musk has lost about $31 billion.
Billionaires' wealth gains and losses have closely tracked the stock market fortunes of Amazon and Tesla, which count their founders as their largest shareholders.

It should be considered that although both are among the so-called Magnificent Seven, i.e.
the stocks that have pushed the US stock markets the most, Amazon shares have more than doubled since the end of 2022 and are within reach of a record high.
Tesla is down about 50% from its 2021 peak.
