80% electricity column bonus: how it works and who is entitled to it

The 80% bonus for electric columns is provided for by the Prime Ministerial Decree of 4 August 2022, published in the Official Journal on 4 October 2022.
The new contribution joins the Superbonus until 31 December 2022 and replaces the 50% deduction for the purchase and installation of charging stations, which expires at the end of 2021.
A novelty therefore for those who intend to install charging stations for electric cars without necessarily having to carry out more complex energy requalification works contemplated by the 110% Superbonus.
The current legislation in fact provides that the installation of electric columns falls within the maxi relief as a driven intervention (with a maximum of 2,000 euros for single-family buildings and independent real estate units with independent access to the outside, of 1,500 euros for condominiums that install up to eight columns, and 1,200 euros for condominiums that install more than eight columns).
From now on, however, it is possible to install the electric columns independently of other works.
Let's see in detail what it is, how it works and who is entitled to the new 80% electricity column bonus.
80% electric column bonus: what is it The 80% bonus is a contribution for the installation of domestic charging columns and covers a maximum expense of: 1,500 euros per individual 8,000 euros for condominiums.
The amount will come directly from the Ministry of Economic Development (Mise) and you will no longer have to wait for the 10 annual installments to recover the tax deduction, as for the previous measure.
As specified by the decree, 40 million euros have been allocated for this measure, recovered from funds not used for the purchase of electric and plug-in hybrid cars.
80% electricity column bonus: how it works At the moment the operating methods for sending the request have not yet been published and it is necessary to wait for the specific directorial decree of the Ministry of Economic Development, with all the instructions and procedures for disbursement of the 80% bonus.
The provision will have to be issued within a short timeframe, given that the relief covers expenses incurred up to 31 December 2022 and there is no certainty that it can also be extended into 2023.
For those who are about to start the installation works, the council is to keep the invoice and all the documentation to attach to the bonus application when the new dedicated portal is operational.
80% electricity column bonus: who is entitled to it? The 80% bonus is due to natural persons within the limit of an expense of 1,500 per person.
A figure considered fair by Omar Imberti, coordinator of the E-mobility group of Anie (National Federation of electrotechnical and electronic companies): the cost of a charging station is between 600 and 1,300 euros, to which the installation costs must be added , of around 300-500 euros.
Out of a total expense of 1,500 euros, the actual cost to be incurred is 300 euros.
The bonus is also available to condominiums, for whom the maximum spending limit for installing electric columns in the common areas is raised to 8,000 euros.
Other car incentives provided by the decree In addition to the 80% electricity column bonus, the decree provides an extra incentive for the purchase of non-polluting cars for families with an ISEE income of up to 30,000 euros and for rental companies.
In particular, the contributions cover up to 7,500 euros of spending on electric vehicles and up to 6,000 for plug-in hybrids.
The government provision specifies that only one person within the same family unit can benefit from the relief.
The new decree therefore broadens the range of recipients of the bonus for the purchase of electric or plug-in vehicles to include rental companies and operators, previously excluded, as long as they maintain ownership for at least 12 months.
