“How to Create an Amazon Account and Why You Should Sign Up”

Creating an Amazon Account: A Simple Guide

Creating an Amazon account is a simple and intuitive process.
It’s nothing impossible, considering that nowadays all online platforms, including commercial ones, provide guided procedures for entering the usual personal data.

What is Amazon and Why Register?

When we talk about Amazon, we are referring to an e-commerce giant founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos, even in his own garage in Seattle.
Initially focused on selling books online, it soon expanded into other sectors.
Over the years, the platform has extended its activities to multiple sectors, becoming a giant in e-commerce and offering services such as cloud computing, streaming video, and much more.

Registration is essential if you are thinking of buying products and items online through Amazon’s catalog, which can be conveniently delivered to your home.
Users can find practically everything they need, from home goods to electronics, fashion, at accessible and affordable prices.

Thanks to registration, purchasing on Amazon is quick and easy, with fast shipping options and available customer service.
Not to mention various associated services, depending on the chosen profile at the time of registration.

When creating an Amazon account, users are presented with a choice: to register with a regular account or opt for an Amazon Prime profile, a paid service that guarantees ultra-fast shipping and more.
With a Prime subscription, Amazon offers services such as Amazon Music, Amazon Video, and Kindle Unlimited, enhancing the user experience.

How to Create an Amazon Account?

Creating and activating an Amazon account only takes a few minutes.
The crucial step, in addition to registering the profile, is choosing the preferred payment method and the option to associate multiple users to your account.

To begin shopping on Amazon, creating an account is necessary.
Simply open the website from desktop or mobile (also through the official iOS and Android apps).

Do not be intimidated by the various ads and featured articles; all you need to do to register on Amazon is click on “Hello, Sign in – Account & Lists” at the top right and select “New customer? Start here” (you will recognize the blue highlighted link).

You will be redirected to a page with various fields to fill in: “Your name,” where you enter your full name for delivery purposes, an email, and a password of at least 6 characters.
Then re-enter the chosen password and click “Create your Amazon account.”

You can also choose to sign up for Amazon Prime immediately using this link, but note that this is a paid service.

Entering Address and Payment Method

To complete the registration process, you will need your address for receiving ordered goods and a suitable payment method of your choice.

After your initial login, click on “Account & Lists” again at the top right and from the menu that appears, select “Payment options.”

Here you will find two possible options: “Add a card” or “Add a checking account.” Accepted payment methods include credit and debit cards, prepaid cards like Postepay, PayPal, bank accounts for SEPA direct debit, and various others.

Be cautious with the “checking accounts” option, as not all products allow payment via bank account.
You will also need to provide a billing address.

How to Buy on Amazon

Shopping on Amazon is easy, almost too easy.
Items are categorized as sold and shipped by Amazon or by external sellers (who may add additional fees valid even for Prime accounts).

Simply use the search bar to find any item of interest and select a category if needed.
Once you have chosen the item and reviewed it through photos and user comments, click on “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now” for direct payment.

Through your Amazon account, you can review purchased products, rate them from 1 to 5 stars, and attach photos, videos, and helpful opinions to guide other online shoppers.

Is Amazon Registration Free?

As mentioned, registration on Amazon is completely free for the standard account, not referring to Amazon Prime.
There are no associated costs or fees to create a standard account.

On the other hand, subscribing to Amazon Prime, the premium package, involves exclusive benefits such as fast and free shipping, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Amazon Kindle, cloud storage, and more.
You can maintain your Amazon account (both standard and Prime) until you decide to close or deactivate it; there is no expiration date.

For further information or any issues, you can contact Amazon customer service through their Customer Service hotline.
