The Serie A salary ranking for the 2024/2025 season reveals significant changes compared to the previous year, with some clubs cutting their budgets while others have increased their spending.
Currently, the Inter Milan leads this special ranking, surpassing Juventus, which has reduced its payroll compared to last season.
Following closely in this elite group are AC Milan and, shockingly, clubs like Roma and Lazio have made significant cuts to their payrolls.
Conversely, ambitious teams such as Fiorentina, Bologna, and Atalanta have notably ramped up their salary expenditures, aiming for a brighter future in the league.
For the 2024/2025 season, the overall gross salary expenditure for Serie A has exceeded one billion euros, precisely 1.05 billion, reflecting the revenue generated annually from both domestic and international broadcasting rights for Italy’s top football division.
According to data released by Capology, here’s the detailed salary ranking for Serie A 2024/2025:
In comparison to last year, Inter has raised its gross payroll by around 25 million euros, with Atalanta and Napoli also increasing their salary budgets by over 15 million.
The Milanese club, on the other hand, recorded a more modest increase of 10 million euros.
Juventus and Roma have cut their salary budgets by approximately 15 million euros, primarily due to the departures of Federico Chiesa and Romelu Lukaku.
The Lazio club also follows this downward trend with a reduction of 4 million euros compared to last year.
Interestingly, smaller teams such as Monza and Genoa have also increased their payrolls, while newly-promoted Como has impressed with a lavish spending spree aiming for European qualification.
At the bottom of the payroll ranking are Lecce, Empoli, and Verona, who managed to secure their place in Serie A last season despite spending far less compared to clubs like Sassuolo or Salernitana, who opted for significantly higher player salaries.
