A few more weeks and we will officially enter winter even if in reality we are already there.
For a few days the temperatures in our country have dropped dramatically.
The snow has returned to the Alps and Apennines, the ski resorts are at full capacity and even in the city, especially in the evening, teeth are chattering.
This is why it becomes necessary to organize yourself for adequate home heating.
Now we are spoiled for choice and they all represent a valid solution, but what about the costs? Inevitably there are solutions that have an excellent return/price ratio in the sense that by spending little they allow you to heat the house optimally.
Then there are more expensive solutions.
Let's see for this 2023 what are the cheapest solutions for heating.
Wood and pellets become affordable again After last year pellets had reached crazy prices due to the conflict in Ukraine and the strong speculation that there had been on this product, the good news is that in 2023 the cost of pellets has returned to or less than the prices of a few years ago and averages around 6 euros for each 15 kilo bag.
In some cases, purchasing entire pallets to put in stock allows you to further save on the price and enjoy an entire winter without supply problems.
The pellet stove therefore once again represents one of the most economical and efficient solutions for heating in winter, especially if connected to radiators allowing global warming of the house.
Wood for fireplaces and stoves also has a stable price and represents a widely adopted solution due to its affordability.
However, here some limitations come into play such as excessive maintenance, a large space for storing wood especially if you live on the upper floors.
In short, wood and pellets are certainly cheaper at the moment than electricity and gas for heating.
However, there are excellent solutions in this case too.
Cheapest heating of 2023: the heat pump Said of pellets and wood, there are many other solutions for heating your home but not all of them are considered very economical.
Let's start with the classic gas-powered boiler connected to radiators.
This is one of the most used solutions in Italian homes.
Excellent efficiency, great ease of use, little maintenance other than ordinary annual maintenance, the boiler still represents the best solution today for having hot water and heating together.
It is gas powered and requires electricity to function and for this reason it is certainly not cheap.

For this winter, with the increase in demand, the forecasts speak of a new increase in the bill.
For this reason, the boiler certainly cannot be the cheapest heating solution in 2023.
Other solutions such as air conditioners, stoves and convectors also have limits.
Air conditioners, even if they do not consume a lot in terms of electricity, have a low yield because as soon as they are turned off you can immediately perceive the difference and keeping them on all day increases the costs on the bill.
With stoves and convectors the situation is the same as with air conditioners.
So there is a new solution that is becoming increasingly popular in homes for heating in winter and it is the heat pump.
This solution allows you to save the most for heating in winter and is also the greenest one for the environment.
The heat pump allows you to disconnect from fossil fuel sources because it works with electricity but has very limited consumption.
The heat pump allows savings which, depending on the case, vary from 40% to 60% compared to other heating solutions.
It consumes 0.5-1 kWh, therefore considering a current electricity tariff of 0.16 euro/kWh and an operation of 8 hours a day in the winter months, a consumption of approximately 4-8 kWh per day is obtained, i.e.
from 0, 60 at around 1 euro per day.
The operation of the heat pump is very simple.
It is a technology capable of transferring thermal energy and therefore heat from a colder environment to a warmer one.
In winter a heat pump works by removing heat from the external environment to supply it to the internal spaces, keeping them warm.
It extracts heat from a natural source which can be air, water or earth and transports it inside the building at the appropriate temperature.
Installation costs may be higher than other solutions but there are various incentives that lower them significantly.
