The Best Hospitals in Italy (and the World): 2025 Rankings

Ranking of the Best Hospitals in Italy and Worldwide 2025

A ranking exists for nearly everything, including the best hospitals in Italy and around the world.
The American publication Newsweek, in collaboration with Statista, a global data intelligence platform, has released the list of the world’s best hospitals, categorized by specialization.
For the year 2025, numerous Italian hospitals proudly position themselves among the leading institutions globally.
Particularly noteworthy are the Policlinico Gemelli in Rome for Gynecology and Obstetrics, and the IEO in Milan for Oncology.

Despite a lack of uniformity across the country, according to the data considered in this ranking, Italy continues to impress.
Here, we present the updated lists of hospitals both nationally and globally across various specializations evaluated.

Categories Analyzed by Newsweek and Statista

At some point in our lives, most of us will require a specialist consultation beyond our general practitioner—whether it’s an orthopedic surgeon, cardiologist, or gynecologist.
This premise drives the methodology behind the “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2025” rankings, produced by Newsweek in association with Statista.

The 2025 list recognizes hospitals across 12 medical fields: the top 300 in Cardiology and Oncology; 250 in Pediatrics; 150 in Cardiac Surgery, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, and Pneumology; 125 in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Urology; and 100 in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

What factors determine these rankings? Firstly, thousands of healthcare professionals were surveyed, providing their insights based on their areas of expertise.
Patient reviews also significantly influence the ranking positions.
