Important Updates Coming to PayPal in August

Upcoming Security Changes on PayPal in August 2024

An important change is on the horizon for PayPal users coming in August.
Currently, numerous PayPal customers are receiving emails announcing enhancements to the registration process.
These communications are not spam or phishing attempts but rather valuable insights into security features.

The changes primarily affect customers who had already activated 2FA (two-factor authentication) before the EU Payment Service Directive (PSD2) came into effect.
This group of PayPal users should now have the same options as those for whom 2FA was activated automatically on January 1, 2021, when the directive came into force.
These options include additional security components and better device recognition.
Here is what will change starting August.

What’s New on PayPal Security Starting August 2024: What Changes?

The change for customers will roll out in August.
In the PayPal settings, in addition to the previous authenticator and passkey, the app and WhatsApp will be available as additional 2FA channels.
This will streamline the registration process, as devices or web browsers can be remembered, eliminating the need to input an identification number for each transaction.

Customers won’t need to take any additional actions, as the new options will be available automatically from August onwards.
PayPal highlights that customers who transitioned to the 2FA system in 2021 can already leverage these settings.
The goal is to standardize security measures for all users.
