Located in Nevada, it is situated in the so-called “Carlin Trend”, a geological formation rich in gold mineralization.
Extraction has been taking place here since 1965 over an area of about 56 km.
Muruntau (Uzbekistan)
According to Statista, starting from 2023, the largest gold mine in the world in terms of production volume is the Muruntau mining complex in Uzbekistan.

In 2021, 23.8 tonnes were extracted from this mine located 100 km away from the capital, Santo Domingo.
The gold production is managed by Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation, a joint venture between industry giants Barrick (60%) and Newmont (40%).
Kibali (Democratic Republic of Congo)
This African mine produced approximately 23 tonnes of gold in 2021.
Active since 2013, both open-pit and underground mining activities take place here.
Cadia (Australia)
