The 2024 budget law outlined a reduction of the Rai license fee to €70, effective until December 31, 2024.
This measure is set to continue into 2025, providing some relief to taxpayers.
The Rai license fee has long been one of the least favored taxes among citizens.
Often, there are sensational headlines about the potential elimination of this fee or its removal from energy bills.
However, these claims are typically suggestions that have yet to materialize.
The current system of collecting the Rai fee through energy bills significantly diminishes evasion risks, explaining the reluctance to consider alternative payment methods.
According to the recent budget plan, the Rai license fee will decrease from €90 to €70 for 2024.
However, this change is not a permanent fixture unless confirmed by a subsequent directive or within the 2025 budget.
Encouragingly, the government has chosen the latter, affirming during the October 16, 2024, press conference that taxpayers can expect the same fee structure for 2025 as in the previous year.
Currently, the fee is applied at €15 every two months, confirming an annual total of €70.
It is important to note that there are no expected changes to the rules regarding exemptions from the Rai fee.
