2025 Maternity Bonus Confirmed for Mothers with Two Children and Self-Employed Women with Income Cap

2025 Budget Law Confirms Maternity Bonus for Two-Child Families

The 2025 Budget Law reaffirms the maternity bonus for families with two children, extending its reach to self-employed workers.
This move showcases the government’s commitment to encouraging childbirth and balancing work with family needs.

Additionally, the law places specific income limits for accessing this benefit.
The initiative, which wasn’t detailed during the October 16 press conference, was hinted at in a recent Ministry of Economy statement.

While the maternity bonus is naturally effective until December 31, 2026, for families with three children, it required extension for those with two, originally set to expire at the end of 2024.

Eligibility and Financial Aspects of the Maternity Bonus 2025

The program mandates an allocation of 18 billion to cover measures initially planned for 2024, with total financial needs soaring to 30 billion due to new political demands.

Despite the challenges, dedicated funds for the maternity bonus have been allocated to ensure both its continuation and inclusion of self-employed workers previously excluded.

Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 Maternity Bonus

Eligibility extends to mothers with at least three children until the end of 2026, while those with two children qualify until December 2025, provided at least one child is under 18.

The law further dictates a new stipulation where, starting January 1, 2025, the bonus applies only if the worker’s annual income does not exceed 40,000 euros.

Projected Bonus Amounts for 2024

The maximum bonus for 2024 is set at 3,000 euros annually, translating to a potential gross monthly increase of 250 euros per mother.
For part-time workers, this will be scaled on a daily basis.

However, mothers earning below 35,000 euros will see reduced benefits due to a tax wedge cut, affecting net gains significantly.
Comprehensive details are available in the table illustrating gross monthly salary increases.
