September marks Apple’s annual showcase of its latest innovations, with the highly anticipated event scheduled for Monday, September 9, at 7 PM Italian time.
The venue is none other than the iconic Steve Jobs Theater located in Apple Park, Cupertino.
For those unable to attend, the event will be streamed live on YouTube and through Apple’s official website.
Excitement is building around the reveal of the new iPhone 16 series, alongside the unveiling of new Apple Watch models and updated AirPods, both standard and Pro versions.
While major changes in the iPhone 16’s design compared to its predecessor are not anticipated, there are a few notable tweaks to look forward to.
The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will maintain the same screen sizes as last year, featuring 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches respectively, while the Pro and Pro Max versions will see slight increases, moving to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches.
The edges of the devices will be slimmer, coupled with a reimagined design.
Particularly for the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, the vertical camera layout—a nod to designs from previous years—returns, likely to facilitate spatial and 3D video recording.
A significant addition to the base models is the introduction of an action button, a feature previously exclusive to Pro models.
This button, located on the right side, will offer various functionalities:
Camera upgrades are expected, notably for the ultra-wide lens, shifting from an ƒ/2.4 to an ƒ/2.2 aperture for improved light reception by roughly 19%.
The Pro and Pro Max models will also likely retain their main camera specifications, yet the ultra-wide camera resolution will quadruple to 48MP with a telephoto capability up to 5x.
Microphone enhancements include improved waterproofing and a higher signal-to-noise ratio for clearer audio capture.
All iPhone 16 models will be powered by the A18 chip; however, specifications vary.
The standard iPhone 16 will feature the regular A18 Bionic, while the Pro will utilize a more advanced A18 Pro with additional GPU cores and Neural Engine enhancements.
As artificial intelligence continues to play a significant role in modern smartphones, RAM capacity is growing increasingly important.
Last year’s base and Plus models offered only 6 GB of RAM; this year, they’ve been upgraded to 8 GB.
While final pricing details are still emerging, initial reports suggest the following prices in Italy for the iPhone 16 series:
The presentation is set for September 9, with pre-orders expected to begin between September 12 and 13, followed by general availability by the end of the month.
