The stage is set for the start of a new era in the Champions League, famously known as the “Cup with Big Ears.” This season marks the debut of a new format introduced by UEFA, which discards traditional qualifying groups in favor of a unique ranking system featuring 36 participating teams.
This year, five Italian clubs will showcase their talent in the Champions League 2024/2025: Inter, Milan, Juventus, Atalanta, and Bologna.
Unlike previous seasons, matches will not be confined to Tuesdays and Wednesdays but will also take place on Thursdays.
When it comes to broadcasting, both Sky and Amazon Prime have secured the rights to air the matches.
Sky will cover all games except one Italian match on Wednesday evenings, which will be streamed exclusively on Amazon Prime.
Notably, Mediaset will no longer air a free match on Tuesday nights as it has in previous years.
However, Italian fans can still catch one Champions League game for free each round on TV8, although these matches will not feature any Italian teams.
Looking closely at the TV rights, Sky will exclusively broadcast 185 of the 203 matches scheduled.
Viewers with appropriate credentials can also stream these games via NowTV and SkyGo.
Amazon Prime Video will air the remaining 18 matches, showing the top Italian match every Wednesday.
TV8, part of the Sky group, will bring one free match per week, but again, it will not involve Italian sides.
Below is the detailed schedule for the first matchday of the Champions League 2024/2025, along with broadcast information:
In addition, the exclusive match on Amazon Prime will feature Manchester City vs.
Inter, while the free-to-air match on TV8 will be PSG against Girona.
