GPS First Tier Support Hires, Final Test: Here’s How It Works
Final Test for First Band Gps Inclusion: How Does it Work?
Many specialized professionals in support who have enrolled in the first band with the latest update of the 2024/2026 Gps may wonder about the final test procedure for inclusion.
The Ministry of Education and Merit has released decree no.
111 on June 6, 2024, which regulates permanent hires directly from the first band of Gps for support specialists to fill vacant positions in the province of assignment at the end of the selection procedures.
Teachers hired from the first band Gps for support commence their service with a fixed-term contract and are included in the role only at the end of the probation year, which must conclude with a positive evaluation.
They are also required to carry out a simulated lesson.
Understanding the Final Test for First Band Gps Support Hires
The final test at the end of the probation year for hires from the first band of Gps for support consists of two phases according to the ministerial decree governing direct hires from the Substitute Lists for the next two school years.
At the end of the probation year when the teacher is hired with a fixed-term contract, they must:
1.
Pass with a positive evaluation the procedures outlined in article 13 paragraph 1 of decree no.
59/2017.
2.
Perform a simulated lesson before the Evaluation Committee, which will provide a judgment of suitability or unsuitability for teaching.
The simulated lesson required in the second point is the same as that requested in the 2024 school competition, the first of the Pnrr.
With regard to the first point, it should be noted that the teacher is hired with a fixed-term contract, and the year of service is equivalent to the probation year.
At the end of the year, the teacher must undergo a final test and evaluation by the school principal, after consulting the Teacher Evaluation Committee based on the tutor teacher’s assessment.
If the first phase of the final test fails, the probation year for hires from the first band of support Gps can be repeated only once.
However, if the simulated lesson has a negative outcome, the teacher is not considered suitable and therefore forfeits the permanent contract definitively.
Only passing the final test composed of the two phases, a positive evaluation of the probation year and the simulated lesson, results in permanent employment effective from the start date of the service with a fixed-term contract.
This does not prevent the teacher from later participating in competitions announced by the Ministry of Education and Merit, and the service provided is assessed as a fixed-term assignment with 12 points in the Gps.
Simulated Lesson Procedure and Postponement of Probation Year
The simulated lesson takes place by July 15 of the reference school year and is structured exactly like that required for competitions, forming part of the oral test.
The teacher must refer to the ministerial programs specified for the competitions concerning the school level of interest and is informed by the school principal at least five days before the test.
The topic for the simulated lesson, prepared by the Assessment Committee, is assigned to the candidate 24 hours before the test.
Failure to appear at the established date, time, and location without a valid reason results in exclusion from the procedure for inclusion in the role.
If the simulated lesson for Gps hires from the first band for support can only be repeated once, the probation year with a final test can be repeated at least twice.
This means that those who do not pass the probation year do not have to perform the simulated lesson but can repeat the procedure for only one last time.
The probation year, however, may be postponed by the teacher for justified reasons as provided by decree, including maternity leave, paternity leave, leave of absence, or illness.
There are no time limits for postponing the probation year.
