Political polls show a decline for Meloni and M5s: Pd on the rise, Renzi and Calenda at risk

Latest Swg Political Poll Revealed

The latest political survey by Swg, revealed on April 29 by Tg La7 hosted by Enrico Mentana, comes just 48 hours before the deadline for the submission of lists for the upcoming June European elections.

Key Points of the Survey

Georgina Meloni announced her candidacy for the European elections from the stage in Pescara.
According to the survey, Fratelli d’Italia is experiencing a slight decline but remains the top political force in the country.

There is a lot of debate surrounding the Prime Minister’s request to her electorate to write only “Giorgia” on the ballot, with the intention of leveraging her name to boost FdI’s votes beyond the last elections.

Within the government majority, the survey shows a recovery for the Lega party, with Matteo Salvini deciding not to run for the European elections and instead endorsing General Roberto Vannacci.

Antonio Tajani will also be a candidate, but according to the survey, Forza Italia has not yet managed to surpass Lega despite the agreement with Noi Moderati for a united list.

Opposition Forces and Election Prospects

In terms of opposition forces, the Swg survey seems to favor the Democratic Party, which will have Elly Schlein on its list in two constituencies for the European elections.

The growth of the Pd seems to have come at the expense of the 5 Star Movement, which may suffer from the lack of vote-catching candidates in their lists for the upcoming elections.

Despite the presence of Pace Terra Dignità, a pacifist list indicated to be declining at 2% in the survey, the Alliance of Greens-Left is on the rise and projected to exceed the 4% threshold.

On the other hand, the United States of Europe list, formed by Italia Viva and +Europa, seems to have failed to excite moderate voters, prompting Matteo Renzi to consider withdrawing his candidacy.

Carlo Calenda has announced his presence in all constituencies, determined to push his chances of surpassing the threshold, with Azione currently above the crucial mark in the survey.

According to the Swg survey, both Pace Terra Dignità and Libertà, led by Cateno De Luca, may not be able to elect their own MEPs, while Democrazia Sovrana e Popolare by Marco Rizzo seems to be out of the running.
