Netherlands elections 2023, the results: Wilders' far-right wins, what happens now?

Holland elections 2023: the counting of votes has almost concluded with the now official results that reward Geert Wilders, the leader of the far-right PVV party who has been an ally of Matteo Salvini in Europe for years: a famous sign of his where in 2020 he promised to “don't give a cent to Italy”.
With 94% of the ballots counted, the results of the legislative elections in the Netherlands – where a proportional voting system is in force – see PVV in the lead with 23.3% of the votes; followed by the Greens-Social Democrats with 15.6% and the liberals of VVD (the party of former prime minister Mark Rutte who has governed for the last thirteen years) at 14.9%.

There would instead be the numbers for a GL-PdvA, VVD, NSC and D66 majority, which would cut out Geert Wilders, with the former European commissioner Frans Timmermans – leader of the Greens-Social Democrats – favored at this point to become the next prime minister Minister of Holland.

The prime minister is usually the leader of the party with the most representation in the Tweede Kamer and is appointed by royal decree.
As often happens when there is a proportional electoral system, it is not easy in the Netherlands to then create a government majority.
Mark Rutte, after leading the Netherlands for 13 years – during which there was certainly no shortage of controversy with Italy with the former prime minister leading the so-called frugal – resigned in July after his government went under on the always delicate topic of immigration and asylum requests.
In addition to resigning, Mark Rutte also announced his retirement from politics at the age of just 56, but in these elections in the Netherlands there was certainly no shortage of candidates: twenty-six, with the name best known to us being that of the former European commissioner Frans Timmermans.
In fact, he is the candidate of the Greens and the Social Democrats, while the right-wing leader Geert Wilders is also in the field with the VVD – the conservative party long led by Mark Rutte – which is betting everything on the former Kurdish refugee Dilan Yesilgoz.
Centrist Pieter Omtzigt is ready to play a leading role in the 2023 Dutch legislative elections, like Caroline van der Plas's Farmers' Party – a Eurosceptic movement opposed to the green deal.
The polls Before the vote, several polls were carried out in view of the 2023 Dutch elections.
