When it comes to the European Football Championship hosted in Germany, the glory of winning is not the only thing at stake; the prize money put up by UEFA is also quite enticing for the federations of the twenty-four participating nations.

The estimated revenue generated by Euro 2024 will mainly enrich UEFA, which will keep a significant portion of the earnings from the tournament, while Germany is also hoping for a substantial economic and image-related return.

Euro 2024 Prize Money Breakdown

The total prize money for Euro 2024 is set at €331 million, the same amount as the previous edition.
Compared to Euro 2016 in France, there is an additional €30 million to be divided among the participating nations.

Here is an overview of the prize money distribution for the twenty-four national teams reaching the final phase:

  • €9.25 million – Participation bonus
  • €1 million – Group stage victory
  • €0.5 million – Group stage draw
  • €1.5 million – Round of 16 advancement
  • €2.5 million – Quarterfinals advancement
  • €4 million – Semifinals advancement
  • €5 million – Runner-up
  • €8 million – Winner

Every national team participating in Euro 2024 will receive a guaranteed €9.25 million, with the potential to earn more based on their performance throughout the tournament.
The winner of Euro 2024 stands to pocket over €28 million.

Euro 2024 Revenue Overview

On the revenue side, UEFA anticipates a total income of €2.4 billion from Euro 2024, with projected costs not exceeding €1.2 billion.
This estimates a net revenue of €1.2 billion, while the tournament winner is set to receive €28 million.

Looking back at Euro 2020 held in England in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, UEFA incurred costs of €1.2 billion, with total revenues reaching €1.6 billion, resulting in a net profit of €600 million.
With the pandemic behind us, profits are expected to double.

Germany also foresees significant economic and image-related benefits from hosting Euro 2024, with approximately 7 million tourists expected.
UEFA reported receiving 50 million ticket requests, which could boost consumption, especially in sectors like beer sales, accommodation, and merchandise.
