Ukraine, sending troops would be wrong.
This is the response to the survey launched by Money.it after, first the French president Emmanuel Macron and then the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin, raised the hypothesis of a direct war by NATO against Russia to prevent Moscow from going as far as in Kiev and then, perhaps, not stop attacking the Baltic countries.
As can be seen from the results of the survey, which we remember does not have a scientific value but only an indicative one as it was not carried out on a sample basis, for 86% of respondents it would be wrong to send Italian soldiers to help Ukraine in the war against Russia.
A plebiscite result that would make clear the readers' clear opposition to some sort of Italy's entry into war against Russia, even if 14% of respondents would be in favor of such a scenario.
It must be said that Giorgia Meloni immediately specified that Italy does not intend to send its troops to Ukraine, but if a NATO member country were to go to war against Russia at that point our army would hardly be able to back out of intervening .
read also Why Macron wants to bring Europe into war against Russia No to sending troops to Ukraine: the result of the survey The Money.it survey is clear: readers are overwhelmingly against sending soldiers to Ukraine , since this would mean going to war against Russia, the largest nuclear power in the world.
But why is there much discussion about this possibility? In recent days Emmanuel Macron declared that “there is no consensus at this stage on sending troops on the ground; nothing must be ruled out, we will do everything possible to ensure that Russia does not win." Subsequently the French president added that "we are certainly approaching a moment in our Europe in which we must not be cowards", while shortly before the Pentagon's number one Lloyd Austin made it known that "if Ukraine falls I truly believe that the NATO will go to war with Russia." As mentioned, Italy – like the leaders of NATO and many other members of the Atlantic Alliance – immediately denied this hypothesis, but at the moment it is not possible to understand how the war in Ukraine may evolve in the future.
Given Kiev's military difficulties, without direct intervention from NATO, Russia would seem destined to win the war: given the total absence of a diplomatic line, Macron's words could soon become very topical again.
