Anticipated Ordinary Competition for DSGA: What to Expect

The long-awaited announcement for the ordinary competition for DSGA (Director of General and Administrative Services in schools) is finally on the horizon.
This anticipation, which has been brewing since 2022, is set to conclude soon.
But who is eligible to participate in this competition? What are the required qualifications?

Before diving into the specifics, it’s important to note that on July 5, the Ministry of Education and Merit received authorization from the Ministry of Public Administration to proceed with the hiring of 2,584 DSGA positions.

Division of Posts

The available positions are divided into two competitions.
The first, initiated last July, is for career progression for individuals with at least three years of service.
The second will be for the remaining positions through an ordinary competition.
These posts are intended to cover assumptions for the next three years.
Let’s explore the eligibility requirements for this competition, for which specific dates have yet to be confirmed.

How the Ordinary DSGA Competition Works

The ordinary competition for DSGA operates on a merit-based system that involves both qualifications and examinations.
Similar to the school competition reserved for teachers, the selection process will be regional, allowing applicants to choose one region during the application phase.

The written examination, conducted on a computer, is expected to consist of 60 questions with four answer options, to be completed within 120 minutes.
The questions will be divided as follows:

  • 5 questions on Constitutional Law and Administrative Law
  • 4 questions on Civil Law
  • 18 questions on Public Accounting, specifically related to the administrative and accounting management of educational institutions
  • 10 questions on Labor Law, focusing on contractual public employment
  • 8 questions on School Legislation
  • 12 questions on the Administrative Management of autonomous educational institutions and the legal status of school personnel
  • 3 questions on Criminal Law, particularly regarding offenses against public administration

To pass the written assessment, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 42 out of 60.
Those who pass will proceed to an oral exam, which will evaluate their knowledge of the written test subjects, computer skills, and competency in English through reading and translation of a provided text.

Successful candidates will complete a probationary year and must fulfill a three-year commitment to the assigned school.
For final confirmations and details, we await the official announcement.
