The long-awaited announcement for the ordinary competition for DSGA (Director of General and Administrative Services in schools) is finally on the horizon.
This anticipation, which has been brewing since 2022, is set to conclude soon.
But who is eligible to participate in this competition? What are the required qualifications?
Before diving into the specifics, it’s important to note that on July 5, the Ministry of Education and Merit received authorization from the Ministry of Public Administration to proceed with the hiring of 2,584 DSGA positions.
The available positions are divided into two competitions.
The first, initiated last July, is for career progression for individuals with at least three years of service.
The second will be for the remaining positions through an ordinary competition.
These posts are intended to cover assumptions for the next three years.
Let’s explore the eligibility requirements for this competition, for which specific dates have yet to be confirmed.
Eligible participants for the 2024 ordinary DSGA competition must either be Italian citizens or nationals from other EU member states or non-EU countries, in compliance with relevant regulations, and must also possess a specific degree.
Applicants must have one of the following master’s degrees or equivalent qualifications:
No prior experience is necessary for the competition.
For more details on the required degrees, please refer to the regulations governing the competition, particularly Annex A, which is downloadable and consultable.
The ordinary competition for DSGA operates on a merit-based system that involves both qualifications and examinations.
Similar to the school competition reserved for teachers, the selection process will be regional, allowing applicants to choose one region during the application phase.
The written examination, conducted on a computer, is expected to consist of 60 questions with four answer options, to be completed within 120 minutes.
The questions will be divided as follows:
To pass the written assessment, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 42 out of 60.
Those who pass will proceed to an oral exam, which will evaluate their knowledge of the written test subjects, computer skills, and competency in English through reading and translation of a provided text.
Successful candidates will complete a probationary year and must fulfill a three-year commitment to the assigned school.
For final confirmations and details, we await the official announcement.
