Who is Marco Violi and why was he mistaken for an attacker of Trump
The False Accusation against Marco Violi
Marco Violi, an Italian sports journalist, found himself at the center of an international fake news case.
Violi, known for his blog Romagiallorossa.it, was mistakenly identified as the assailant who supposedly tried to kill former US President Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania.
Origin and Spread of the Fake News
The Butler Police Department arrested a man identified as Mark Violets, believed to be responsible for the attack on former President Donald Trump.
However, the accusations against Violi were proven to be false.
On the night of the attempted assassination, Violi was wrongly accused of shooting Trump in the right ear, severely injuring a person in the audience, and killing another.
The false accusation stemmed from a meme posted by the page @Moussolinho on X, creating the pseudonym “Mark Violets.” The hoax quickly spiraled out of control, garnering global attention.
Marco Violi’s Response and Legal Actions
Shortly after the incident, Violi took to his social media profiles to debunk the baseless allegations made against him.
He expressed his intention to take legal action against the X accounts that spread the fake news and the media outlets that reported it without verification.
In his statement, Violi highlighted the ongoing campaign of cyberbullying and harassment he has endured since 2018.
Notably, a previous incident linked him to the Kongsberg attack in Norway under the alias Marek Al-Viol.
Violi’s History of Harassment
This recent fake news event is not an isolated case for Violi.
The journalist has been a target of stalking and cyberbullying for years.
The #VioliNation campaign, initiated in 2018 by @Moussolinho and the Twitter Calcio community, has subjected Violi to unwarranted ridicule and defamation.
Despite facing continuous harassment and false accusations, Violi remains determined to seek justice and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.
