Wedding bonus 4,000 euros, what we know about it
The religious wedding bonus has been talked about for some time and always with the same outcome: nothing has happened.
It was October 13, 2022 when bill no.
was presented in the Chamber of Deputies.
97, the first signatory was the Northern League member Domenico Furgiuele, aimed at introducing a bonus reserved for couples who get married in church.
A distinction that the promoters of the bill motivated by saying that in Italy the number of religious marriages is clearly decreasing compared to civil marriages.
Hence the "need" to provide an incentive of up to 4 thousand euros for those who opt for the religious rite.
Then there was no shortage of controversy, so much so that the Honorable Furgiuele did an about-face by announcing the possibility that the bonus could be extended to all weddings, including those celebrated in the Municipality.
Since then, however, the proposal has been shelved, although it seems that in recent days it has been discussed again (but there are no official documents confirming this).
In any case it must be said that it is premature to talk about the wedding bonus because in addition to the fact that the chances of it being approved are very few, it must also be considered that such a measure would only come into force in 2025 as it requires the resources allocated by the next budget law (which among other things risk being very few).
For weddings celebrated in 2024, therefore, there is no possibility of this.

The chosen formula is that of the deduction of 20% of the expenses incurred for the organization of the wedding.
It goes without saying that the interpretation of the item "expenses" can be all-encompassing, ranging from church ornaments such as flowers, booklets, clothes for the bride and groom, catering service and wedding favors.
However, a maximum limit of 20,000 euros is set for the tax deduction; furthermore, the reimbursement to the spouses would be recognized in 5 annual installments.
Therefore, the maximum you could get is 4,000 euros reimbursement for expenses incurred for the wedding, 800 euros a year for 5 years.
Who would be eligible? Furthermore, some requirements are set: the beneficiaries must have been citizens for at least 10 years, while on the economic side the couple must also have an income not exceeding 23,000 euros or in any case not exceeding 11,500 euros per person.
How to obtain the wedding bonus and which documents to keep The proposed law provides that, to obtain the wedding bonus, those entitled to it must indicate the expenses incurred in the tax return.
To certify the expenses incurred, the couple must keep the following documents: the bank transfer receipt; the transaction receipt for credit/debit card payments; the debit documentation on the current account; the purchase invoices (indicating the nature, quality and quantity of the services or goods purchased).
Because it is very unlikely that there will be a wedding bonus.
The economic effects in a year of a maneuver such as that of the wedding bonus are significant.
The measure would cost a total of 716 million euros, i.e.
143.2 million for the five annual installments.
A "Yes" that would fall into the pockets of all taxpayers, believers and non-believers.
For this reason, in a context in which in the next budget law it will be necessary to find the resources to confirm the contribution relief on the pay slip and further review the Irpef rates, as well as to reform the pension system, it is difficult to think that there will be space for the wedding bonus.
Also because we remember that for the next budget the government will not be able to resort to the extra deficit to finance the planned measures.
