Political Polls: Meloni and PD in decline, M5s soaring along with Renzi

Latest Political Polls and Future Challenges

Youtrend’s latest political polls, released on August 2, hinted at the Parliament’s summer break with politics returning to work in September, when the government will have to tackle the puzzle of the 2025 Budget Law.

Center-right’s Performance

At the beginning of August, the center-right – including Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega, and Noi Moderati – reportedly lost a total of one percentage point in the polls.
While not alarming, Giorgia Meloni should not underestimate this warning sign.

Meloni seems to maintain her authoritative position, although Fratelli d’Italia appears to be moving away from the 30% threshold that the prime minister could aim for after the excellent results in previous elections.

Forza Italia, despite a setback in the polls, is likely to confirm its position as the second party in the government coalition.
In case of a reshuffle, the party could leverage this overtaking against the Lega.

On the other hand, Matteo Salvini seems to continue facing a negative momentum, with the minister, despite his strong social media presence, struggling to bring the Carroccio back to double figures.

Political Polls: PD’s Decline, M5s and Renzi’s Comeback

Recent political polls seem to favor the Five Star Movement (M5s) among the opposition forces.
After the decline in the European elections, the M5s is now regaining momentum in terms of voter intentions.

On the contrary, the Democratic Party (PD) is experiencing a negative trend, with internal debates sparked by Matteo Renzi’s flirtations with rejoining the center-left without vetoing the 5 Star Movement.

Italy Viva seems to benefit from this move in the polls, although Renzi’s party remains below the 3% threshold, unlike Carlo Calenda’s Action party, which stands at a stable 3.2%.

Other Opposition Movements

Among the moderate parties, +Europa is declining, while it seems challenging for the former Radicals to elect their representatives in the next Parliament without an alliance.

Furthermore, there is a notable decrease in the popularity of the Green-Left Alliance, and even Pace Terra Dignità is facing a decline.
Michele Santoro will soon have to decide the future of his pacifist movement.
