The bad weather alert is still in effect for several regions across Italy, particularly affecting Tuscany and Emilia Romagna.
Following heavy rains and flooding last week, forecasts indicate a significant deterioration in weather conditions, which has resulted in a maximum alert status.
The adverse weather conditions have also impacted the world of football.
The Serie A match between Bologna and Milan, originally scheduled for Saturday, October 26 at 6 PM, has been postponed indefinitely.
Bologna’s mayor, Matteo Lepore, made the decision to cancel the match, citing the stadium’s location in a heavily affected area from last week’s severe weather.
This territory is already struggling from earlier rainfall and is projected to experience further worsening weather over the weekend.
The mayor determined that hosting 35,000 spectators could contribute significantly to the current issues.
A new date for the rescheduled match will be announced later.
The mayor has also encouraged businesses to implement remote work policies and advised residents to minimize travel.
Currently, there are still 2,652 people evacuated in Emilia Romagna; 824 from Bologna, with others from Parma (192) and Reggio Emilia (approximately 1,636).
Tuscany is under an orange weather alert, facing concerns from a new disturbance moving in from Spain, expected to hit between Saturday and Sunday.
The regions most impacted will be the North-West, particularly Liguria, Piedmont, Emilia Romagna, and Tuscany, where heavy rains are anticipated.
The deterioration will commence on Saturday, October 26, with significant rainfall expected in Piedmont and Liguria, along with scattered thunderstorms in Tuscany, Lazio, and Sardinia.
In contrast, southern regions are likely to see clear or partly cloudy skies.
On Sunday, October 27, continued adverse weather is predicted for Tuscany and Sardinia.
Light rain will affect Lombardy, while heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in Piedmont and Liguria.
The situation will worsen in the Emilia Apennines by evening.
Meanwhile, southern areas and the Adriatic coastline will remain mostly clear.
Starting Monday, October 28, the weather is set to improve with the arrival of a high-pressure system over Italy.
From Tuesday onwards, fair weather will regain dominance across much of the country, bringing milder temperatures and clear skies.
This calm period is expected to last through the following weekend, coinciding with the All Saints’ Day holiday.
On October 31, Halloween night, expect pleasant weather conditions to continue.
However, as we move into November, the high pressure may start to retreat northward, allowing for a potential cold front to sweep down.
This could result in another bout of severe weather, accompanied by a notable drop in temperatures.
Some areas may even see early snowfall at lower altitudes, a phenomenon not commonly seen this early in the season.
While the timing is still uncertain, trends suggest a possible shift in conditions ahead.
