June Payslip: Bonuses and Benefits Overview

For many workers, the June paycheck brings a sense of anticipation and, for some, a pleasant surprise.

Holiday Bonuses in the Payslip

In June, there were two main holidays to consider in terms of payslip bonuses.
Firstly, June 2nd fell on a Sunday this year.
For non-working employees, they are entitled to a paid workday in their payslip.
For those who worked on the holiday, they receive the standard holiday pay as per their collective agreement.

On June 29th, the feast of Saints Peter and Paul is celebrated.
In Rome, this day is a full public holiday, while in the rest of Italy, it may be considered a “suppressed holiday.” Employees working on this day typically receive an extra paid day off in their payslip.

Unclaimed Leave Compensation

Many collective agreements set June 30th as the deadline for utilizing accrued paid leave.
Unused leave hours are usually compensated with an hourly wage in the July payslip.
This could lead to an unexpected increase in the salary for many employees.

The Fourteenth Salary

Several sectors, such as commerce, services, and professional firms, grant an additional salary, known as the fourteenth salary, usually in proximity to the summer season.
The amount is based on the last gross salary received, prorated for the number of months worked in the previous year.

Receiving the fourteenth salary may impact other bonuses and benefits, as it could push employees over the threshold for certain tax reliefs based on the gross salary.

Bonus of 175 Euros on the Fourteenth Salary

Employees in the commerce, services, and organized retail sectors have been granted an additional bonus in the latest contract renewal.
This one-time bonus will be paid alongside the fourteenth salary in July 2024 and 2025, with varying amounts based on the job level.
