The world’s most expensive homes: a look at Italy’s luxury properties

The Most Expensive Homes in the World

When it comes to real estate, some houses are not just homes, but true masterpieces of luxury and splendor.
From breathtaking villas on ocean cliffs to private skyscrapers dominating metropolitan skylines, these residences represent the pinnacle of opulence and design.
With prices often exceeding hundreds of millions of dollars, and in some cases even reaching the billions, these homes offer every imaginable comfort, from panoramic pools to private theaters and art galleries.

The Most Expensive Homes in the World

It is not hard to imagine that the most luxurious homes in the world belong to celebrities such as actors and singers, or even to members of royalty and successful entrepreneurs.
These are individuals who often own incredible properties scattered around the globe.
The value of these homes is often immeasurable as they surpass any real estate evaluation.
This is due to various reasons, such as the fact that they are rarely put on the market, precisely because they are accessible only to a select few.
Here are some of the most expensive homes in the world, distinguishing between palaces and private residences.

Buckingham Palace

Buildings like Buckingham Palace are not just residences, but symbols of power, prestige, and history.
Their grandeur is a testament to a past where nobility could build the most magnificent homes as an expression of their influence and status.
This is why the most expensive residence of all is Buckingham Palace, owned by the British royal family.

It has an estimated value of over 2.9 billion dollars.
The palace boasts 775 rooms, 78 bathrooms, 92 offices, and 19 ceremonial salons.

Istana Nurul Iman

In second place is Istana Nurul Iman, the official residence of the Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah.
Designed by architects Leonardo Locsin and Khuan Chew, this palace blends Islamic, Malay, and European architecture.
The interiors, decorated with 38 types of Italian marble, Shanghai granite, and English glass, include artworks such as a painting by Renoir purchased for 70 million dollars.
Completed in 1984, the palace is valued at 1.5 billion dollars and features 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms, banquet halls, 18 elevators, 5 pools, an air-conditioned stable, and a mosque.

Antilla

On the other hand, among private residences, Antilla is one of the most expensive and fascinating in the world, with an estimated value of over a billion dollars.
Located in the heart of Mumbai, India, this imposing structure belongs to Indian tycoon Mukesh Ambani, who lives there with his wife Nita and their three children.

Designed by architectural firm Perkins & Will and design studio Hirsch Bedner Associates, Antilla stands out for its ultra-modern style and use of precious materials.
The building spans 27 floors, but its overall height is equivalent to a 60-story skyscraper, thanks to high ceilings and open spaces.
